Jessica graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor’s in Journalism in 2011. Two weeks after graduating, she left her hometown of Columbia, MO, for the bright lights of New York City, intending to secure a job in the glamorous world of glossy magazines. Eventually landing and finding her niche in the marketing realm, Jess held copywriting jobs at Google and Ralph Lauren for two years in NYC before realizing she missed the Midwest way of life and moved to Kansas City, MO. There, she worked for Helzberg Diamonds and Silpada Designs and fostered her love for football (she’s a Chiefs fan through and through, much to Denver’s chagrin).
Craving a more outdoorsy lifestyle (and craft beer), Jess moved to Denver in 2016, where she landed a job as a marketing manager for Smashburger. She loved getting to taste test burgers and shakes (as eating is one of her favorite hobbies) and crafting witty copy for the Smashburger social media pages. But it was her lifelong obsession with animals that brought her to Fear Free Pets.
Jess currently lives with a beautifully rotund cat named Chubs, whom she adopted from the ASPCA of New York City, and recently rescued a rambunctious pup named Rocky from Lifeline Puppy Rescue in Brighton, CO. Aside from loving on Chubs and Rocky and petting every animal she runs into, Jess loves to hike, write, eat, drink beer, and travel the world. She’s been to Austria, Belize, Canada, Colombia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Guatemala, Mexico, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, and Spain thus far and plans on adding many more.
