Lori Chamberland

As the former director of Karen Pryor Academy from February 2014 to April 2018, Lori oversaw KPA’s faculty, staff, operations, and course development. She was a contributing author on KPA’s Better Veterinary Visits, Dog Trainer Foundations, and other online courses. In her prior role as KPA curriculum development manager from 2011 to 2014, she was the course designer/developer on Dog Trainer Foundations, Puppy Start Right for Instructors, and Shelter Training & Enrichment.

She has written numerous articles for newspapers, magazines, and websites, and has four articles published in the book Better Together: The Collected Wisdom of Modern Dog Trainers. Lori, who is a KPA Certified Training Partner, also served on the ClickerExpo Faculty for several years.

Before joining Karen Pryor Academy in 2011, Lori was a newspaper editor for 12 years. She was a copy editor, then a local pages editor, and then the front page editor of the MetroWest Daily News in Framingham, Mass. She will always have a soft spot for local journalism. Lori holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of New Hampshire.

Lori lives in the wooded suburbs (“the boonies”) about 30 miles outside of Boston, Mass., with her two border collies, Blink and Brio. In her spare time, Lori enjoys playing hockey, mountain biking, competing in dog agility, kayaking, skiing, and skating.
