At the end of 2016 I adopted a 12 month old Spoodle and so my journey to better understanding dog behaviour began. Charlie is a much loved and highly anxious boy. His anxiety presents as hyperarousal and chewing. In October 2017 we opened our hearts to another dog who suffers from anxiety Elmo. Elmo feels anxious around strangers and in new situations. I have consulted with veterinary behaviorists and both boys are happily medicated. I always thought that I practiced many aspects of fear free veterinary practice but since having my anxious boys I wanted to make sure I was doing everything I could for my patients to help them feel comfortable in my presence and so my Fear Free mission has began.

About Rouse Hill Family Vets

We provide circle of life petcare which involves us guiding you through your pet’s needs at every stage. We recognise the needs of a puppy or kitten are very different to those of a senior dog or cat entering their twilight and therefore customise care to your pets life stage.

Unlike most veterinary hospitals, we recognise the link between the emotional and physical wellbeing of our patients and are proactive about reducing their fear, anxiety, and stress during our veterinary visits. By helping your pets to be more relaxed for their veterinary care, we find that in turn reduces the pet owner’s stress as well.

Understanding that we must first look after the people who care for your pets to ensure they are able to provide personalised treatment plans that address your pet’s needs. We book longer consultations so our staff and clients are less rushed, your pet is given the time it needs to adjust to their visit and we avoid long arduous waiting times.

We embrace technology to improve not only our patient care but also to improve our ability to connect with you, our clients and keep you updated on your pet’s progress. We are always looking for new ways to enhance our communication and reduce our carbon footprint.

We are passionate about providing a place for future veterinarians & veterinary nurses to learn in a safe and forward thinking environment. It is not uncommon to find our staff mentoring nursing and veterinary students to help give them the best start possible to their careers.

Focusing on a proactive approach to wellness care helps our furkids live longer and happier lives. We do this by providing recommendations around preventative care, supplements, nutrition, physical therapy, screening tests and more. We believe prevention is better than a cure.

Our driving force has always been to make a difference when it matters the most. Those moments include starting your puppy or kitten off on the right paw, providing preventative care treatments to avoid disease, helping you face a health crisis in your pet or providing a peaceful goodbye for your fur family at home surrounded by those who love them the most. From the beginning to the end of their life, we are with you every step of the way.

Brilliant Vets. My Princess Jasmine is a 30kg EBT ..She might look tough but she is a big marshmellow. I am so appreciative of the time and care Dr Belinda and Staff took in getting to know Jazzy and to make her feel loved and welcome. She had become fearful at our previous Vets and did not want blood taken (which due to her Addisons disease is a regular procedure) but with patience cuddles treats and a numbing agent she was so brave and didnt even blink when her leg was shaved and blood was drawn…her confidence already returning. Thankyou so much.❤
